1.	Keep domain name easy to remember. I tend to avoid hyphens or underscores. eg. I run words together www.celticcollectorsclub.co.uk is easy to remember. Imagine if there were underscores or hyphens. One wrong and domain name is not found on the internet.
2.	If you do not yet have a domain name. PLEASE DO NOT jump in and buy the domain. It may look a good deal to get a free domain but there are important factors to consider. Will site be surrounded by adverts placed there by the host company? Will the host allow the site to use extension files?. Is there a restriction on web site size and/or bandwidth?
3.	In the perfect world I prefer to buy the domain and hosting together. The domain actually comes with the hosting packages I use.
4.	The domains I register are owned by the customer and registered accoringly with the host company and then Nominet.
5.	COSTS INVOLVED. Hosting and domain packages I use come in at £44.66 for 2 years with a .co.uk domain. Renewal notices thereafter come in at the same rate of £22.33 per annum after the 2 years. Works out at under 50p a week.
6.	E MAIL ADDRESSES The hosting comes with the option to take email addresses that adopt the domain name. Eg. www.jaygeedesigns.co.uk allows any amount of email addresses enquiries@jaygeedesigns.co.uk or anything@jaygeedesigns.co.uk The emails can be catch all where all emails come in to the one passwword. The Emails can also be set with individual passwords. This allows a department or individual sole use and access to that Email address. You are not restricted to using the domain Email address on the site designed. This suits companies or groups that wish to continue using their well known Email address.
7.	ACCESSING EMAIL - The Emails with the domain can be accessed from any internet ready computer WORLD WIDE (if you have the username and password). This is ideal if a specific computer terminal is not available, or the user is temporarily located elsewhere (on holiday or on a course). You can also reply using this method or set up an auto reponse reply Email.

	DOMAIN this is the site name. eg www.*****.co.uk or .com etc.
	HOSTING you need a host to hold your site live on the internet 24/7. Basically you are renting space on their server.
	BANDWIDTH everytime a user looks at a page or image on your site they are transferring information off the server. Free hosting often limits the bandwidth in a given month. If there is a limit to the bandwidth and your site exceeds it in a month, your site cannot be viewed by a user, until the new month starts and bandwidth used goes back to zero. (Hosting I use has no bandwidth limits). Also bandwidth settings on free hosting can result in slower use of pages.
